A VIRTUAL NEW YEAR...
In our first year of 2009, Brazen Racing produced four events. In 2020, we also had four regular events -- because we had to cancel 24 other ones! But no virus or lockdown can kill the Brazen spirit and so until we are allowed to get back together in person, we are carrying on the best we can, with virtual challenges!
We invite you to join us in spirit and help say goodbye and good riddance to 2020 and hello to what we all hope will be a better year for the Brazen community and the world!
GOING FULL BRAZEN
Anyone is welcome to do just New Year's Eve or just New Year's Day. But if you are going to celebrate New Year's in true Brazen style, it means you:
- Run on New Year's Eve during the day.
- Celebrate New Year's Eve the way you normally do (going to bed early is totally okay).
- Get up early on New Year's Day and start the New Year with a run, letting 2021 know you mean business.
- Collect (this year via mail after the race) the shirts and medals for both races AND get the "middle medal" making the 20-21 Three-Piece Mega Medal, like shown from past years below.
Signing up for the the combo during registration will set you up for both virtual races and that extra medal.
How does It work?
Participants sign up (for New Year's Eve, New Year's Day or both) and commit to a 5K minimum. You can run, cycle, row or do whatever exercise you decide on.
Starting on 12/30/2020, participants can do their New Year's Eve miles. Then, when the clock strikes midnight fo 2021, participants can run and report their miles online. But you don't have to stay up late! Reporting for the New Year's Day will remain open until 1/10/2021.
The parks where we usually hold these events at are currently scheduled to be open to the public (during regular hours) and you can run at those or any location you choose, including on your treadmill. You can even jump on the stationary bike, rowing machine or do whatever you like to do.
Once you are done, you will go to the results link and enter in your distance and time. Like all our virtual races, the New Year challenges are non-competitive, but posting your results makes it official.
Ready to share the joy? Post up a picture and/or your run with #brazenNYE and #brazenNYD!
In a short time after New Year's Day, you will receive both your shirt and your medal in the mail.
